Residental Landscaping

We work with private property owners who:

  • want to landscape with native plants
  • want to turn back the tide of invasive non-native plants
  • are required by a permit condition to use native plants
  • are interested in fire-resistant landscaping
  • want to be good stewards of their land

A prize-winning design-build project

The dune area around this beach house was flattened and denuded during construction.  We brought in matching sand and shaped it like natural dune topography.  The planting won two prizes from the California Landscape Contractors Association: Best Small Residential Landscape and Best Xeriscape.

Red Tag Remediation

When a property is red-tagged for grading, land clearing, or construction that was done without permits, Greening Associates prepare plans to repair the situation and carry out the remedy. This is usually followed by submitting monitoring reports to the regulatory agency.

Fire-Resistant Landscaping

We can design and install a landscape that is both beautiful and fire-resistant, or retrofit an existing planting for fire resistance. In a wild setting we can identify the best features to keep while selecting vegetation to remove for fire safety (instant landscaping!). For a do-it-yourself homeowner who has done extensive clearance for fire safety and then finds the place looks bare and dull, we can prepare a streamlined planting plan in the form of marked-up photos.

Two ways to reduce the force of a potential fire: Terracing a slope and creating separations within the vegetation.
